JAO seeks two appointments to its Board of Governance


Following the end of the term of office of the current Chair and one of its Independent Members. the Jersey Audit Office (JAO) is seeking two appointments to its Board of Governance.

The Board of Governance comprises a Chair, up to three other independent members and the C&AG. The principal function of the Board of Governance of the JAO is to keep under review whether the Comptroller and Auditor General has used and is using the resources provided by the States properly, efficiently and effectively.

The Chair role requires a person with:

  • experience of Chairing either an Executive or Non-Executive board within complex organisations in the public or private sector at Director level
  • demonstrable expertise at understanding how complex political landscapes operate
  • a proven record of exercising sound judgment; and
  • prior knowledge of the key elements in public audit, either from work as an auditor or having chaired an Audit Board.

The Independent Member will be someone with:

  • prior experience of working at board level and within complex organisations in either the public or private sector at Director level
  • a proven record of exercising sound judgment
  • a working understanding of managing risk, in either an executive or non-executive capacity
  • commitment to high quality, effective and accountable public services; and strong leadership skills, in either an executive or non-executive capacity.
